About

Welcome to the European Society of Digital and Integrative Pathology (ESDIP)!

We are a professional organization dedicated to advancing the field of digital and integrative pathology in Europe and beyond. With a multidisciplinary approach, we bring together pathologists, laboratory technicians, researchers, clinicians, and industry professionals who share the common goal of enhancing patient care through innovative digital technologies and integrative approaches.

The European Society of Digital and Integrative Pathology was announced at the 13th European Congress on Digital Pathology in Berlin, Germany, from May 25 – 28, 2016. The significance and technology of the issues discussed changed over the years from the basics in telepathology (1992), problems of glass slide acquisition (1998 – 2004) and virtual slides (2000 – 2012) to fully automated image measurements (2008 – 2016), as well as issues of predictive and risk associated diagnosis in terms of integrative pathology (2008 – 2016). The founding members felt that the time had come to create a European Society to support the discussion, creation, and implementation of new and appropriate diagnostic methods, as well as to become involved in potential ethical and social professional issues outside the scope of the congress itself. This also allowed the Society to better support the congress organization and make it a yearly event from 2018 on.

ESDIP serves as a platform for collaboration, education, and research, promoting the exchange of knowledge and best practices in the rapidly evolving field of digital pathology. Our society strives to empower pathologists with the latest technological advancements and foster a community that embraces digital solutions in pathology diagnostics, research, and education. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies, ESDIP aims to revolutionize pathology practice, improve patient outcomes, and shape the future of pathology.

Missions and Objectives

ESDIP is committed to promoting the adoption of digital pathology solutions across Europe, bringing together regulatory bodies, healthcare institutions, and industry partners to raise awareness, provide education, and advocate for the integration of digital technologies in pathology workflows. By facilitating the implementation of digital pathology systems, we aim to enhance diagnostic accuracy, improve workflow efficiency, and enable remote consultations and collaborations.

ESDIP serves as a hub for researchers and innovators in the field of computational pathology. We encourage scientific collaboration and promote interdisciplinary research projects. Through our partnerships with academic institutions, industry partners, and funding agencies, we strive to foster innovation and drive the development of cutting-edge technologies that will shape the future of pathology research and diagnostics.

ESDIP is dedicated to providing high-quality educational resources and opportunities for pathologists and other healthcare professionals, computer scientists and biologists. We organize workshops, conferences, and webinars to share knowledge, best practices, and advancements in digital pathology. By fostering continuous professional development, we empower our members to adapt to the rapidly evolving landscape of pathology practice.

ESDIP plays an active role in the establishment of standardized guidelines and protocols for digital pathology. Collaborations with international organizations and expert committees to develop best practice recommendations, quality assurance frameworks, and interoperability standards. By ensuring consistency and reliability in digital pathology workflows, we aim to enhance diagnostic accuracy, facilitate data sharing, and promote seamless integration of digital solutions across different healthcare settings.

ESDIP encourages international collaboration and networking among pathologists and professionals in related fields. We foster connections between our members and international organizations, enabling knowledge exchange, collaborative research projects, and sharing of experiences. By building a global network of experts, we promote cross-cultural understanding, facilitate knowledge transfer, and accelerate the adoption of digital pathology on a global scale.

Join ESDIP today and become part of a vibrant community driving the future of digital and integrative pathology. Together, we can revolutionize pathology practice, improve patient outcomes, and shape the future of healthcare.
